    Black Lawyers Elect New President

    Attorney Ashley Gantt Now Leads T.J. Reddick Bar Association

       FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – On June 18, 2020, the newly sworn executive board members of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association were sworn in during a virtual installation ceremony by Broward County Court Judge Kal Evans.

    The new 2020-21 Executive Board is as follows:

    • Ashley Gantt, President
    • De’Anne Jackson, President-Elect
    • Sherea L. Randle, Corresponding Secretary
    • Maisha Champagne, Recording Secretary
    • Alexia Hudson, Treasurer
    • Lauren Gutierrez, Historian
    • Janice Haywood, Immediate Past President

    “I am honored to serve, alongside our Executive Board members, as the incoming President of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association.  I look forward to advocating for diversity on the bench, educating the community, and promoting professional excellence among Black attorneys” Ashley Gantt, stated.

    Ashley V. Gantt is an attorney in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Class Action & Mass Litigation practice group. Ashley’s focuses her practice on insurance defense.

    While in law school, Ashley served as the Nova Southeastern University Black Law Students Association President and Secretary. Additionally, Ashley earned the Honorable Charles I. Kaplan Outstanding Service Award for demonstrating dedication and commitment to children and families through her work in the Children and Families Clinic.

    The T.J. Reddick Bar Association is dedicated to promoting the professional excellence of Black lawyers in Broward County, increasing the enrollment of minority students in college and law school, and promoting the general welfare of all citizens in Broward County.  The Association, named after the Honorable Thomas J. Reddick, was the first Black attorney to open an office and practice law in Broward County.  Judge Reddick was the first Black attorney appointed to the Broward County Court of Record and the first Black attorney to serve as a Circuit Court Judge in the State of Florida.
