NATIONWIDE (BlackNews.com) — Dr. Wayne, CEO of Wayne Pharmaceuticals, Inc, is dedicated to closing the health disparity gap in the Black community. Based out of Cordele, Georgia, Dr. Wayne operates one of the only Black-owned pharmaceutical companies in the nation. Wayne Pharmaceuticals shares an 18-acre campus with the MD Whitest Medical Institute, right in the heart of Cordele’s west side, the most socio-economically deprived area of the city.

Prior to the acquisition of the facility, the campus was home to Cordele’s historic A.S. Clark School, built in 1956 to provide public education to African American locals. Dr. Wayne’s goal in purchasing the school was to preserve its history for the African American community while developing it into an economic engine that would create jobs and revitalize the struggling African American community surrounding the campus.

Programs, products, and services of both Wayne Pharmaceuticals and MD Whitest Medical Institute center on uplifting the physical, social, cultural, and economic well-being for Cordele, specifically its Westside residents. Sadly, Cordele-Crisp County, due to its high morbidity and mortality rates, ranks 152 out of 159 counties in the state of Georgia. In response, Dr. Wayne has launched a health and wellness campaign against common conditions contributing to heart disease and stroke, particularly high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes.

To directly combat the #1 killer facing African Americans, namely heart disease & stroke, he has developed his own brand of healthcare products, one of which is Dr. Wayne’s Aspirin, an 81mg tablet generally prescribed by doctors to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes for at risk populations. As part of the campaign, Dr. Wayne uses social media to provide health-related content to the African American community, shedding light on many health issues facing Blacks and offering strategies for adopting healthy lifestyles.

The campaign has recently extended into a Dr. Wayne’s Health and Wellness Program, where Cordele residents have access to the campus gym with an indoor track for walking and supervised training. The program is funded entirely by Wayne Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

“The African American community spends $150 Billion annually on healthcare products inclusive of pharmaceutical prescriptions and over-the-counter medications. Wayne Pharmaceuticals was launched with an eye at targeting a percentage of these dollars by offering the same quality health and medical products that are purchased on a regular basis from other companies. Our goal is to redirect some of these dollars back to our community for economic growth, job creation, and community re-development,” says Dr. Wayne, Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Wayne and Wayne Pharmaceuticals Inc. are moving forward with major plans to develop the company as a manufacturer of pharmaceutical and health care products with certainty of continuing the mission towards closing the health disparity gap African Americans face in hopes that African Americans can live longer healthier lives.
