Blacks Need Some Spooks

Dan Freeman is a fictional character in the Sam Greenlee book “The Spook That Sat By The Door”. You can purchase the book or watch the movie with the same name.

God needs to send African Americans newer and better “spooks”.

In the book and movie, Freeman was the first Black person hired by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Freeman, the “spook”, was treated by the CIA just like you are treated today in real life. He was denigrated, disrespected, denied, demeaned, suppressed, and misled.

Just like the Black people you know with lofty political and corporate titles, Freeman was a show horse, so to speak. He was often asked to speak to Black audiences and comment about how wonderful the spy agency was.

One day when Freeman decided he had enough of the CIA mistreatment, he began to train his friends and neighbors in gathering intelligence, political subversion, and guerrilla warfare to fight against the CIA and others that sought to exploit and oppress Black people.

In 2023, so-called Negro leaders are acting like the topic of an Etta James blues song: they would rather go blind than to walk away from a job, an appointment, a contract, a distribution deal or something that suggest they were not hand-picked for their positions in society.

Being a “spook” is dangerous and hazardous. If you consider teaching Black people how to fight mentally, physically, or otherwise, you won’t have to worry about the CIA, FBI, KGB, FSB, DEA, MI-6, Mossad, Scotland Yard, or other intelligence agencies coming to America’s Black communities to get you or to suppress your efforts.

America has “Spook busters” just like Ghostbusters.

Every viable Black community group with proven leadership and courageous followers and members has also had snitches and informants.

Every person at the Martin Luther King assassination was not in Memphis, Tennessee to show love for Dr. King. Everybody at the Audubon When Malcolm X was not in the ballroom to hear Malcolm X deliver a “Ballot or the Bullet” speech.

There were snitches, informants, and rogue cops at both murders.

Every Jesus has a Judas! Nat Turner had one. Denmark Vesey had one. Even Marcus Garvey had a betrayer named Bag O’ Wire.

Black men and women don’t really need to be “spooks” but I do think we all need to reach one and teach a Black male or Black female how to defend themselves and our communities.

We need to stop wishing, hoping, and praying for jobs and titles. Let’s share our skills and talents with each other so we can build our own community and create our own jobs!
