Broward Health pediatric patients had the incredible opportunity to participate in Pilot for a Day during Fleek Week. Four patients embarked on a memorable adventure aboard the USS New York, where Rear Admiral David Walt treated them to a guided tour.

The day began with the kids donning custom Navy flight suits, which they proudly showed off as they explored the ship and learned about life on board. They were captivated by the story of the USS New York, a vessel built with 7.5 tons of steel from the World Trade Center.

The excitement continued as the children toured a helicopter and even stepped inside the cockpit, experiencing firsthand what it’s like to be part of the crew.

To wrap up the unforgettable day, each child received their own set of wings and a certificate, marking the occasion and commemorating this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
