FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA –– Broward Health is excited to announce plans for the construction of two cutting-edge medical office buildings and a parking garage at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale and Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach. This expansion represents a major step in bolstering the system’s healthcare offerings and expanding its footprint across South Florida.

“The new medical office buildings will serve as a cornerstone for our ongoing growth, allowing us to expand our network of physicians and services to better meet the needs of our patients,” said Shane Strum, President & CEO of Broward Health. “This project is a significant part of our strategic plan to strengthen Broward Health’s position as a leader in healthcare, enhancing access to care and building a healthier future for our community.”

The development, designed by The Beck Group in collaboration with DMZ Architects, will introduce state-of-the-art facilities that are slated to open in 2027.

“We are excited to announce our plans for two new medical office buildings, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional healthcare services and expanding our physician practice and specialty care,” said Dane Ficco, CEO of the Broward Health Physician Group. “This expansion not only highlights our growth as a trusted healthcare provider, but also reinforces our dedication to improving patient care with the most advanced facilities.”

The new medical office buildings will be designed with flexibility and scalability in mind, ensuring they can adapt to the evolving healthcare needs of the community while enhancing both patient and staff experiences.

    Project Details

Broward Health Medical Center medical office building:

Size: 188,000 square feet across eight floors

Exam Rooms: 129 rooms, with the ability to expand to 237

Specialties: cardiovascular services, pulmonology, primary care, gastroenterology, neuroscience, women’s services and space for future growth

Broward Health North medical office building:

Size: 114,000 square feet across six floors

Exam Rooms: 75 rooms, with the ability to expand to 123

Specialties: cardiovascular services, neuroscience, orthopedics and space for future growth

Parking Garage at Broward Health Medical Center:

Size: 300,000 square feet across seven floors

    Capacity: Approximately 700 parking spaces

Inspired by the iconic Deerfield Beach lighthouse, these buildings will embody a design that symbolizes hope and guidance, while also reflecting the coastal beauty of South Florida. The architecture will seamlessly blend with the surrounding environment, fostering a sense of community and connection.

“These projects represent our continued investment in operational excellence and innovation, ensuring our facilities are equipped with cutting-edge technologies and designed for maximum efficiency while embracing the environment in which we live and serve,” said David Clark, senior vice president of operations for Broward Health. “This expansion is a pivotal step in strengthening our ability to meet the growing healthcare demands of our community.”

The project includes a standardized clinic floor design to ensure consistency across the system, with flexible layouts that can adapt to future needs. These features will optimize operations and elevate both patient and staff experiences, enhancing overall healthcare delivery.

“We are proud to collaborate with Broward Health on this transformative project,” said Bryan Wilson, director of The Beck Group’s South Florida Office. “The renderings showcase the future of accessible and cutting-edge care for the South Florida community and will set a new standard for healthcare by reflecting Broward Health’s leadership in patient-centered innovation.”

The new medical office buildings at Broward Health Medical Center and Broward Health North will redefine healthcare delivery, offering modern, efficient spaces designed to meet the needs of the growing community for years to come. These new medical office buildings, in addition to the new freestanding emergency departments that are in development, represent the first new construction for Broward Health in 25 years.

“As we continue to expand our network of medical office buildings, we are not just investing in infrastructure; we are investing in the future of healthcare. These facilities enhance our ability to provide convenient, accessible and high-quality care to the communities we serve,” said Strum. “By strategically positioning ourselves in key areas, we are ensuring our patients have access to the best resources and specialists, empowering us to fulfill our commitment to excellence in patient care, innovation and overall health outcomes.”
