~Leaders across the political spectrum have announced their support for School Board Member Torey Alston in this non-partisan race to retain his seat on the Broward School Board.  Broward’s two Black County Commissioners also announced support for its former member.~

MIRAMAR — Broward School Board Member Torey Alston, seeking to retain his seat on the school board, has been supported by several democratic and republican officials in this non-partisan race.  Alston filed his paperwork on June 14th to retain the district 2 seat on the Broward School Board.

“The outpouring of support for experienced leadership, solid education experience and an independent voice fighting for our children is humbling in this non-partisan race,” said Alston, who is a product of Broward County Public Schools, a former Broward County Commissioner, former School Board Chairman and former Chief of Staff to Barbara Sharief. “I was born in south Broward, I understand Broward issues and I will continue fighting for academic excellence, safer schools and protecting our tax dollars while managing a $6 billion operation.  I am humbly asking the voters of Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Southwest Ranches and portions of Cooper City and Davie to send me back to continue unfinished business on the Broward School Board.”

Incumbent School Board Member Torey Alston further commented, “This is a non-partisan race, and my focus will remain on the children.  How we make Broward Schools an A district is not partisan and how we increase proficiency is not partisan.  As a School Board Member, I will continue to bring common sense solutions to the district and engage all communities.”
