    The Gantt Report

    By Lucius Gantt

The judges in former President Donald Trump’s Washington, D.C. case are both women of color. The Magistrate ordered “The Babayka” not to speak or write about witnesses and officers of the court but Trump ignored the orders and continued to post threats and other disparaging comments on social media.

Any further court orders and actions will come from U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, originally from Jamaica, and appointed by Barack Obama in 2014.

Chutkan appears to be a fair but firm judge who was once a public defender who is expected to be fair with all parties in the case.

In my humble opinion, the “fair” thing to do when a litigant ignores and disrespects court orders, like “do not talk to or about witnesses or prosecutors” is to let him think about what was said in speeches, and on social media behind bars in a jail cell for a week or so

The comment, “If you come after me, I’ll come after you”, to me, is a threat.

I hope Judge Chutkan shows she, unlike most Republicans, has no fear of a Bogeyman, Russian or American, and establishes herself as the one in charge of the Trump proceedings.

Meanwhile, a few days in Cell Block T, may be exactly what Trump wants so he can con his supporters out of more financial contributions to pay “legal expenses” or pad his political pockets.

Trump, I think, has been instructed or ordered to divide Americans, disrupt the political process, and destroy what you call American democracy.

I won’t be surprised if history reveals that Trump has a way to discuss his actions with his dictator, authoritarian and despotic friends around the world including, a best friend, Vladimir Putin.

Adversaries and enemies of America love to see the United States disunited and American citizens in disarray.

Trump oftentimes talks with a forked tongue and makes moves like a political puppet on a string. It has been easy for him to verbally attack allies, criticize NATO, criticize citizens and immigrants, and spread hatred across the seven seas.

You don’t have to be the smartest person in the room to know that  Donald Trump is not a genius. In fact, when Trump was President, White House staffers suggested he rarely read security briefings.

The Babayka can’t develop sophisticated plots and schemes to organize coups and insurrections. It seems he is getting advice and direction from a secret source.

Perhaps, Trump says and does bad things because he must. Could it be possible that someone or a group of people have “something” on him like huge monetary debts, proof of unsavory behavior, or extraordinary transactions and life consequences?

Plaintiffs and defendants come and go in courtrooms every day.

Black people in America shouldn’t focus on a fall; they should seek to find out what, or who caused the fall.

Once upon a time, Black people had their own governments, religions, languages, cultures, and more.

We will not be pleased until we have our own again.

God bless the child that has his or her own.

God give Judge Chutkan the wisdom and strength to bust the Babayka!
