   For so many in the African American community and across the world, the loss of Malcolm Jamal Warner is one that cuts deep. His passing feels personal, like we’ve lost a brother, a storyteller, a visionary. It’s not just the end of a remarkable life, but the departure of a rare and radiant talent who gave of himself in every role, every note, and every word.

Meet Jeremiah Gauthier, a proud Broward native and senior at Florida A&M University, majoring in computer engineering. This rising Rattler is making big waves at Verizon, where he’s applying his skills to design and maintain the cooling systems that keep the network running smoothly.

Grant from the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, the PGA TOUR’s premier South Florida event. This transformative gift will support the launch of FMU’s collegiate Golf Club, officially set to debut in Spring 2026. The funding will equip student-athletes with the tools to explore the sport, sharpen their skills, and build a legacy of excellence on the greens.

       Wednesday, July 16, 2025, was a special day for a very special lady as centenarian Mrs. Maude Storr celebrated her 100th Birthday and was honored with the Key to Broward County from Commissioner Robert McKinzie! In addition to Commissioner McKinzie, she was surrounded by Florida Senator Rosalind Osgood, family, friends and her Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority sisters as she sat royally in her front yard receiving the many birthdays; well wishes and gifts.

Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has operated a power plant in Fort Lauderdale since 1927. Originally known as the “superpower plant” and now called the Dania Beach Clean Energy Center, FPL’s first power plant has remained a symbol of innovation and reliability for nearly a century. Over the decades, the plant has transformed dramatically, growing from its early days of powering around 110,000 homes to now nearly 720,000 — a more than sixfold increase in energy production to help support Florida’s expanding population.
