     Administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community supporters are being asked to donate bicycles, toys, and other gifts to brighten the season for the region’s less fortunate children. All deans/vice presidents and directors are asked to donate bikes and helmets. The 2022 Toy Drive surpassed 1,000 gifts. 

A Senate Republican on Monday filed a proposed constitutional amendment that would prevent the state and local governments from paying reparations to descendants of slaves. Sen. Blaise Ingoglia, R-Spring Hill, filed the proposal (SJR 582) for consideration during the 2024 legislative session, which will start in January.

Recognizing the importance of raising awareness and funding for such causes, she decided to take action. In her journey towards recovery, Hyvelle found solace in creating a support and resource group that provides a safe haven for other individuals faced with similar circumstances. Thus, her nonprofit organization Heart Sistas was born. A non-profit organization dedicated to heart health and awareness.

     This grant funding will help to position the organization to better meet the ongoing need.  H.O.M.E.S., Inc. stands for Housing Opportunities, Mortgage Assistance, & Effective Neighborhood Solutions, Incorporated. The organization was founded in 1998 by attorney Katharine Barry as a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide “quality community and economic development benefiting at-risk/disadvantaged lower income Broward County residents and neighborhoods.”

 Because there is still such negativity surrounding those who are living with the HIV/AIDS virus this loving couple did not want to use their names. Attorney Florynce Kennedy was a soldier in the dual fights of Civil Rights and Women’s Rights. Flo’s fervent activism, signature cowboy hat and charisma was well known in the struggle. Schools teach about trailblazer Gloria Steinem, but don’t discuss Flo’s impact on the struggle. Sheri M. Randolph, author of “Florynce ‘Flo’ Kennedy: The Life of a Black Feminist Radical.” said, “She was in Black power, she was in independent Black feminist organizations, she was in the media, she was part of the women’s liberation movement. She was everywhere.”

The theater was taken over by dance, live and recorded music and everyone that attended was put under the spell of Beverly Page, and Clare and the Chocolate Nutcracker.

      The Florida Student Association (FSA) has hired Elijah Hooks as its new executive director and chief of staff, following an extensive search and selection process. The Florida A&M University student assumed his duties this week.
