Florida A&M University (FAMU) announced Mary Simmons, Ph.D., has been appointed interim dean for the School of Allied Health Sciences. Simmons’ appointment will begin on Friday, July 1, following the retirement of Cynthia Hughes-Harris, Ph.D., later this month.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward needs boat captains to volunteer their boats, time, and talent to host Little Brothers and Little Sisters and their Bigs at the mentoring organization’s 42nd Annual BIG Fish Tournament presented by the Moss Foundation. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 17th at Bahia Mar Marina, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., in Fort Lauderdale.

Jordan King, a senior from Pompano Beach High School, stated that “receiving the Bright Futures Scholarship allows me the opportunity to continue my academic career at Florida Southern College where I plan to study pre-med.”
