       On April 15, Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black male, was shot and killed by Minnesota police officer, Kim Potter, during an arrest attempt. The video of his killing surfaced in the media and showed that three officers in one car pulled Wright over because of a regular traffic violation that led to finding out that Wright had a warrant.

       During these difficult times of COVID, you may not be feeling the best. It has been challenging to social distance. Can you believe it’s been over a year since this has all began! Florida House Democratic Leader, Rep. Bobby DuBose (District 94), today announced that he is running for the seat recently vacated by Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (District 20). Hastings had served from 1993 until his death earlier this month. Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to announce a special election in the next few weeks to be held later this year to fill the seat.

This statement was made in June of 2020, which was when the world was dealing with the effects of George Floyd. For the 2021 May Spring issue, Amanda Gorman became the first ever poet to be featured on the cover of Vogue. The cover is a win for her as a poet, for sure. But, most of the Black community is singing the praises of Vogue for the authenticity of the cover. It seems to be one of the most culturally diverse covers in their history. For instance, Gorman is wearing a Louis Vouitton blanket styled as a dress with a gold belt.
