        Americans of African descent are blazing new trails and opening new possibilities in the arena of National Parks and public lands that have been mostly “off limits” to us for years. On April 13, former President Barack Obama launched his new Netflix series, “Our Great National Parks.” On April 6 the National Parks Conservation Association honoured three “advocates for inclusion in parks,” two of whom were Black, alongside a member of the Blackfeet nation. Suddenly it seems like Blacks and Parks are the rage.

    Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County celebrated its Bigs at a special BIG Thank You Breakfast that attracted more than 200 Bigs, Littles, guests and community leaders.  The event honored the nonprofit organization’s Bigs of the Year and all the Big mentors in attendance.

Unless there are unforeseen circumstances, the Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to vote on party lines — 11-11 — but there are still options for the panel or the Senate Democrats in charge to push her nomination to a vote in the coming days. If confirmed, Jackson will be the first African American woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

     Creators and creations are inspired. Everything begins with a thought and thoughts themselves are shared with the whole. We may think that we have a completely unique idea, but the truth is that it is connected to something else. Everything has a source and doesn’t appear from nothing. Everything we see and experience is a manifestation of our collective mental energies. We do not tend to think of it this way, but the Universe responds to our thoughts, actions, words, and interactions. Whatever we desire strong enough builds up the necessary required energy to become a manifestation in the physical realm. This means that all of our thoughts are working together simultaneously across the globe to create what we see everyday! Our minds power the world!

     When I accept the Centennial Leadership Award from the National Parks Conservation Association this Wednesday night at 7 p.m. (Livestreaming) it could mark a new day in the history of public lands conservation, maybe not for the reasons you think. There have been many other conservationists of color who have made a difference – think George Washington Carver who seeded a generation of conservationists at Tuskegee.
