“There’s a lot of rumors and I knew that we had a special role to play,” argued Dr. Suggs. “That’s why the NNPA Task Force is so important. We have to have special, validated information. Our community has a disproportionate amount of exposure to disease and the NNPA collectively is in position to make certain that they are aware of the kind of information that’s out there and relevant to the Black community.”

Black men and women, it’s time we had the talk.
“Our families often live in house-holds without food or water at times and now we have this pandemic. Some families rely routinely on food pantries, even in relatively healthy economic times. Some families have no safety nets. school closures would cut off access to some of their only reliable meals. When resources get tight, people without means tend to get squeezed the hardest,” says a spokesperson from the EBONY Foundation. “The problem is straightforward: Without school, a lot of our community’s kids often don’t eat. Close to 30 million children use the National School Lunch Program each year.”
We are in the biggest crisis this country has seen in a long time. Alabama is in its biggest crisis in a long time, and it is incumbent upon each of us to do what we can to deal with this crisis and the crisis that will follow.
Many from urban communities initially believed that Black people were immune to the coronavirus. This was obviously false information, partly due to the media’s bias in their reporting. Not only can Black people contract the COVID-19 virus, but many are also dying from it. Many have died already, but here are just five confirmed cases:
