    Regrettably,  women have suffered denial  of their inalienable rights  by white men for Centuries. Sadly, the resistance to defend women’s reproductive rights  faces constant roadblocks. SCOTUS gleefully overturned  Roe v. Wade. Now Arizona’s Supreme Court reaffirmed an 1864 law, which banned abortions  at all stages. Farmers controlled and labeled their farm animals as livestock and poultry. Republicans at the federal and state levels  are passing laws literally treating  women  as livestock and poultry.

Money Won’t Change You

     E2 is an organization of business leaders pushing policies that are both good for the economy and good for the environment. As of last week, they report at least 301 major clean energy projects have been announced in 41 states and Puerto Rico since passage of the IRA.

     Nuclear weapons won’t go away, the cynics — the souls in despair — tell us. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle. You can’t, as Gen. James E. Cartwright, former head of U.S. Strategic Command, once put it, “un-invent nuclear weapons.” So apparently we’re stuck with them until the “big oops” happens and humanity becomes extinct. Until then: Modernize, modernize, modernize. Threaten, threaten, threaten.

     June 22 will mark the second anniversary of the overturn of Roe v. Wade. Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the Dobbs decision, promised that passing abortion from the judiciary to the states would “lower the temperature.”

      After Israel carried out an air strike on Iran’s embassy in Damascus, Iran made good on its threat to retaliate. After waiting a few days, Iran launched (by Israel’s count) 185 drones and 146 missiles, the first time it has directly attacked Israel.

Beyond Self-Extinction

      Among the many brutalities in war prohibited under international humanitarian law are starvation of civilian populations and deliberate attacks on aid workers. Here are some new findings worth considering as we ponder the continued decline of human security in the Gaza fighting.

     Probably even fewer of us assume many of those kids look just like the ones he grew up with in public housing projects more than 60 years ago. Rocky Milburn grew up as one of the few white kids in a mostly Black public housing development in southern Indiana. His family was very poor. They were still poor when they moved into an old farmhouse in the country. That was where Rocky fell in love with the outdoors. Even though his parents struggled financially – perhaps even worse than when they lived in the projects – Rocky did not care.

 America is the embodiment of its people’s values, beliefs, mores, customs, culture, politics, normative reality, laws, and religions. These cornerstones serve as the pillars of our three branches of government entrusted into the hands of elected political officials. Foremost, beginning with a president lacking leadership qualities, prudence, and law-abiding character, our society existences, civility, and prosperity faces a tragic fate. Former president Trump’s perceived political psychosis should evoke voters’ epiphany.
