The Minority Keeps Winning and the Majority Keeps Losing
The Supreme Court conceived in inequity by white men whose morality festered with the belief that white men of wealth were without equals. Yet those without wealth would reign over all lesser races including white women. Also, its primary responsibility was to solve disputes of white men within and between the colonies.
Because of where America stands today on the ever present issue of race, the following reflections are offered from the first two paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence, signed July 4, 1776. First, the Preamble, which has much bearing on where we stand today as a nation:
These young ladies have blossomed since their father took office in 2008. Little Sasha was 7 and her big sister Malia 10 years old then. That had to be a daunting experience for an elementary school child. Thankfully they survived without any haunting trauma. That is because of the grounding of having two well educated parents with dignity, and aplomb.
Start Now to Take Back the Supreme Court
On June 25, 2022, President Biden signed a bipartisan gun safety and control bill (The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act), which will save thousands of lives. This is a historical bill that shows that the Democrats and Republicans have the capacity to work together, if they sit down and communicate.
For Black women in this country, today’s decision is especially devastating. Thirteen percent of American women are Black, but 38% of people receiving abortion care are Black. Abortion is necessary healthcare – and a lack of access can quite literally mean life or death for many Black women. This is especially true for Black women who have lower-incomes, live in rural areas, and do not have access to health care because of systemic racism and discrimination.
The Wrong Right
For the unborn, abortion was a death sentence without due process making the mother’s womb like death row. Since Roe v. Wade is overturned, the fruit of the womb is no longer a despised object of doom.
