    Dear Westside Gazette Newspaper,

We hope this letter finds you well. We wish to express our sincere gratitude for your support and coverage of the John Lewis Good Trouble Candlelight Memorial, held on July 17, 2024. Your presence and online promotion in the Westside Gazette underscored the importance of community unity in honoring the values exemplified by our fraternity brother, John Lewis.

However, we are writing to address an omission in your recent coverage of the event. As the organizers we were surprised to note that our organization, along with our valued sponsors—the Broward Branch of the NAACP, the Fort Lauderdale Negro Chamber of Commerce, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and Gift Giving Services, Inc.—were not mentioned in your article. These entities played pivotal roles in the planning and success of the memorial.

The memorial served as a meaningful tribute to Congressman John Lewis, and the contributions of our fraternity and sponsors were instrumental in fostering community unity and upholding his enduring values.

We kindly request that in the future you provide coverage and acknowledgment of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Gamma Gamma Sigma chapter, and the sponsors of our future events. Recognizing our sponsors’ involvement will ensure a comprehensive representation of the collaborative effort that made the memorial, and our future events, possible.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and for ensuring that the contributions of organizers and sponsors receive the recognition they deserve.

    Best regards,

The Men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity

    Gamma Gamma Sigma

and the contributions of our fraternity and sponsors were instrumental in fostering community unity and upholding his enduring values. The memorial served as a meaningful tribute to Congressman John Lewis
