FORT LAUDERDAL, FL — Children’s Harbor is hosting its quarterly Safe Harbor Society Mixer on Wednesday, August 23 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Coral Ridge Yacht Club, 2800 Yacht Club Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.  The event is generously sponsored by M.A. Construction Group.

Open to the public, the Safe Harbor Society Mixer benefits Children’s Harbor, a nationally accredited non-profit agency with a mission to help strengthen families who are struggling in the community, while providing safe shelter and support to teens in foster care so that they may grow into healthy, educated, and productive adults.

Tickets are $35 and additional donations are also welcome. Guests will enjoy cocktails and conversation as they are updated about Children’s Harbor. To purchase tickets, visit https://childrensharbor.networkforgood.com/events/52304-safe-harbor-society-mixer-feb-2023?utm_campaign=dms_email_blast_2378441

The Safe Harbor Society is actively building a community of “Harbor Keepers,” a team of community advocates ushering in change to enhance the lives of foster children who have been impacted by trauma and neglect. They are like-minded leaders who want to empower at-risk children and families with the tools they need to overcome their trauma and grow into healthy, educated, and productive adults.

Children’s Harbor provides a harbor of hope and healing for children who have been impacted by the trauma of child abuse. The main campus in Pembroke Pines provides a supportive family environment for teenagers in foster care and their younger siblings. The family strengthening program prevents kids from coming into foster care by providing in-home counseling and support to families who are struggling in the community. Those who have aged out of foster care are provided with housing, life skills and the wrap-around support necessary to overcome their trauma and navigate through the early stages of adulthood through independent living programs.

    About Children’s Harbor

Established in 1996, Children’s Harbor is a nationally accredited non-profit agency with a mission to help strengthen families who are struggling in our community, while providing safe shelter and support to teens in foster care so that they may grow into healthy, educated and productive adults.

With the belief that children should feel safe, that family is worth fighting for and that cycles can be broken, Children’s Harbor provides a harbor of hope and healing for children who have been impacted by the trauma of child abuse.

Brown’s Harbor is a supportive housing community that offers on-site staff, training, and wrap-around support services for young adults who have aged out of the foster care system, ages 18-23, helping to bridge the gap from dependence to independence.
