Homeowners looking for help as they face foreclosure or the associated problems that may come with it, can now click on Broward County Commissioner Barbara Sharief’s Web page, broward.org/Commission/District 8, and view a new video and documents offering advice and assistance.
The Commissioner provides information on the National Mortgage Settlement Program(NMSP), the Florida Hardest Hit Program and the Making Home Affordable Mortgage Modification Program(MHAMMP).
“I have made this presentation on the radio and to a variety of community groups throughout District 8 and thought I could reach more people by making a video and posting it to my webpage. Many people don’t know about these programs or aren’t aware of how it could benefit them. Others have told me understanding complex foreclosure procedures can be challenging and time consuming,” said Commissioner Sharief.
The NMSP provides as much as $25 billion in relief to distressed borrowers and direct payments to states and the federal government.
Florida Housing Finance Corporation was directed by the U.S. Treasury to create and administer foreclosure prevention assistance programs that address the unique issues of Florida. Two programs are available.
Through MHAMP Modifications, homeowners have been able to obtain lower mortgage payments and realize significant savings each month. For homeowners who have seen their home values drop, there are other options that can provide relief.
