Important to Know

*Walk-up testing now available – Two new walk-up coronavirus testing sites have opened in Broward County.  The first is located at Mitchell Moore Park in Pompano Beach (901 NW 10 St.) and the other is located at the Urban League of Broward County, Fort Lauderdale (560 N.W. 27 Ave). The sites are opened from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Pompano site is closed on Thursdays and the Fort Lauderdale site is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

       *Free Meals in South Florida – The following are some of the organizations that are providing free groceries and meals to families in South Florida:

       *Farm Share – Farm Share will provide fresh produce, frozen proteins, non-perishable items and bottled water to families. This is a drive-through site, but deliveries can be arranged as needed. Dates and times vary, call (305) 246-3276.

       *Feeding South Florida – Drive through groceries as well as grab-n-go meals will be offered to anyone in need. Distribution dates, locations and times vary. There is a distribution at Mills Pond Park, 2201 N.W. Ninth Ave., Fort Lauderdale, April 24, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., call (954) 518-1857. Website: feedingsouthflorida.org

       *Boys and Girls Club of Broward County – The Boys and Girls Club will be offering grab-n-go meals for club members ages 6-18 while supplies last. Families must show their Boys and Girls Club membership card upon arrival, call (954) 537-1010. Website: bgcbc.org

       *Stimulus checks – The IRS has started sending stimulus checks to individuals who have filed taxes for 2018 or 2019 and have a direct deposit on file at the IRS. Non-filers may go to the IRS website (IRS.gov) and file a simple form, entering their direct deposit information.
