    Update

New coronavirus cases continue to increase as the country enters the winter season.  The daily average number of new cases in the US is now 94,000.

New cases are once again rising in Florida, though the state still has one of the lowest daily averages in the nation.

Europe Enters Fourth Wave of COVID-19 Pandemic

The European continent is entering a fourth wave in the coronavirus pandemic. Austria, Germany, Slovakia, and the UK are currently experiencing a spike in new coronavirus cases. New lockdown measures are being Implemented across the continent to mitigate the spread of the virus as people retreat indoors to escape the cold.

FDA Approves Pfizer and Moderna Booster for Individuals 18 and Older

The FDA has given approval for the administration of booster shots to all individuals 18 and older for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Individuals may choose to mix and match the boosters for convenience, but the CDC recommends using the same vaccine manufacturer for all shots if possible.

    Advisory

Although new coronavirus rates have fallen sharply in Florida, COVID-19 remains a serious health crisis. Vigilance is critical to reducing the chance of acquiring an infection. Practice good COVID-19 control strategies:

Observe social distancing guidelines (6 feet or more of separation from others).

Practice good hand hygiene (wash hands frequently with soap and warm water or use hand sanitizers).

Wear a mask when out in public if you are unvaccinated.
