As you all know, there has been a virus called Covid-19, which has impacted many people. Many stores and businesses have closed down, and many families do not receive income anymore, which means they don’t have much money.

Since this is all happening, The New Mount Olive Baptist Church, Mount Olive Development Corporation, Alpha Kappa Alpha-Zeta Rho Omega Chapter, Feeding South Florida hosted a food drive for those in the community who were in need of additional community resources.

The way the drive worked: people lined up in cars,  then drove up to collect their food and left.

As my mom was driving up to the church to start volunteering, the line for those in their cars who wanted to participate in the food drive was wrapped around several streets.

I was volunteering at the drive, and it took a lot of effort and hard work. I completed a variety of tasks such as packing bananas and melons into bags, placing food in trunks, and other assignments as needed.

Dr. Rosalind Osgood, who was the leader, did a wonderful job guiding us and showing God’s love to workers and those in need.

I enjoyed watching the families receive the food because they had joy on their faces when they received it.
