Cranes in the Sky

By Melanated Glow

I have always been a person that watched the sky. Most times I can sense the changes happening in the atmosphere when others aren’t paying attention. When I close my eyes and reminisce, I see the clouds making different shapes with each part flowing and moving individually while creating images as one. My childhood was full of seeing flying dinosaurs and all types of other scenes in the clouds. It was always satisfying to have someone else see it too.

The weather used to determine what we were or were not allowed to do. In my youth, I remember the days where we couldn’t touch our analog telephones, watch television, or take a shower if it was thundering and lightning outside. We were taught to have a different level of respect for Mother Nature and what was happening during those times. We even turned off or unplugged electronic devices for safety reasons. On sunny days we enjoyed the beach, festivals, and other outside activities.

Growing up in South Florida, we have seen all types of storms in our lifetimes. Representing about half a year every year, it seems as though we are Hurricane Season with us being at risk every storm due to our location. On the other side of the coin, tropical plants grow well in South Florida, but they are dependent on the environmental conditions. A change in the weather can result in a change in how plants, flowers, fruits, and other foods grow.

Paying attention to the weather and listening to the discussions of global warming over the years, the desire to control the weather has become a reality. The experiments and research began decades ago and has since morphed into current common practices like the chemtrails being drawn in the sky. Speaking of the sky, positioned miles away from Earth’s surface, satellite systems are used to record and monitor the weather amongst other things.

Experiments and research have been funded for decades in an attempt to develop a system to control the weather. HAARP is the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program initiated in 1993. Focused on research in the ionosphere, the program received $9.3 million earlier this year for expansion. Their findings grant access to information regarding weather, communications, navigation, and surveillance to name a few. Programs like this and others have given way to being able to manipulate the weather. Manipulating a complex system like the weather has consequences that may lead to less than desirable results.

Just like our bodies, the Earth and weather operate like a delicate, yet complex, system that works together. Impacting one part of the system will affect another area. Observing our weather lately and comparing it to the observations over my lifetime, I see a disruption in the “norms” for our zone. Things are not the way they used to be.

All of my life I have heard the saying “April showers bring May flowers.” The type of child that I was, I was waiting for the opportunity to prove them wrong but every year it rained in April. This has been consistent until this year when we experienced a very dry April. On the other hand, the Summer had rainy days similar to what we are used to seeing in April. These rainy days occurred with or without a storm in the Atlantic Ocean. Not only is this change the effect of our ecosystem being impacted in ways that we will learn more of in the years to come, but it also affects the growing of our food.

To enjoy all of the natu-ralness this life has to offer, we must understand the purpose of all of the elements it contains with a level of respect for its nature. There is a reason for the rain, the sun, the lightning, the hurricane, the earthquake, the thunder, the tsunami, etc. Everything has purpose in how it works with everything else in the Universe. Manipulating one part of the puzzle will have some balancing effect in another part. If we are each mindful of our individual toxic contributions to the eco-system and the changes in the weather, we can start moving in the direction of a sustainable solution to all of  our environmental problems.
