Thursday, July 10 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center

    Michael Bienes Seminar Room #2

Hop on the ARTY VAN GOGH bus this summer and create art! This program is sponsored by the Broward Public Library Foundation.

Broward County Libraries Summer Learning Program 2025 has teamed up with the Mobile Art Studio, Art Reaching Today’s Youth, Inc. (ARTY) to offer collaborative art projects based on the summer learning theme, “Color Our World”. Come aboard the ARTY bus and create assemblage type sculptures that use recycled materials. The projects will be interactive and inspiring. Kindergarten through Adult are invited to participate. Younger children should be accompanied by an adult.

About ARTY Van Gogh: Artist and art teacher Libby Hodges had a vision for making art activities and visual arts education accessible to more people, especially children. From that desire came the idea for creating a mobile studio. After some research and a bit of scouting the Internet, Libby found an International Navistar bus that had been retired from active school service, but still had many miles left to go. A team of dedicated, tireless volunteers under Libby’s direction transformed the bus into Arty Van Gogh, complete with new flooring, worktables, seating, and a paint job that turns heads wherever Arty goes. The plan for creating a mobile art studio started with making sure the space would be comfortable for students and functional, considering all the various activities and styles of art that students get to work on.
