BrightStar to match donations up to $10,000 total to the American Red Cross

    By Alexandra Curbello

Sunrise, FL  — BrightStar Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in south Florida, is doing its part to assist in the Typhoon Haiyan Relief effort by accepting cash donations at any of its six locations in Broward County. BrightStar will match total donations received dollar for dollar up to a total of $10,000.

All of the donations received by BrightStar will be provided to the American Red Cross. Members may also call to request a transfer from their account to make a donation. A financial gift to the American Red Cross International Disaster Relief Fund enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need. For a list of BrightStar’s six locations and addresses, visit https://bscu.org/Locations/index.html.

After the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, Bright-Star raised a total of $20,000 for the Red Cross relief fund by accepting cash donations from members and matching them dollar for dollar. BrightStar also worked to raise a total of $15,000 for the Haiti Relief effort for Partners In Health (PIH) after the earthquake in Haiti in January of 2010. A de-dicated and compassionate corporate citizen known for its people-helping-people philosophy, BrightStar Credit Union gives back to the community in a variety of ways, promoting financial literacy in the community, educating members and their families, supporting education, children, the arts and the underprivileged.

BrightStar Credit Union is a full-service, non-profit, member-owned cooperative and one of the largest credit unions in South Florida. BrightStar is open to the community—but also has specifically served employees and students of Broward Schools for more than 65 years. With a total of seven branch locations in Broward County, BrightStar offers a variety of financial services including checking and savings accounts, auto, home equity and mortgage loans and investments and insurance.
