eBay profits from African American Degradation

It is a reminder of the American slave auction when eBay auctions slavery and segregation symbols on its website.  Leaders at eBay appear to be tone-deaf when it comes to America’s lingering racist attitude toward Blacks.

According to its 2018 Employer Information Report, eBay has 80 Executive and Senior Managers; only two are Black.  That means eBay has virtually no Black racial sensitivity as it seeks to profit from symbols of African American degradation. This could explain why eBay permits thousands of racially offensive items toward Blacks to be auctioned.

Racist items listed under Black Americana Collectibles include a Metal 1852 Charleston Coachman Slave Tag, The Nigger Bible, Figurine of Alligator Eating Black Boy, Vintage Little Black Sambo Board Game, Metal 1841 Charlotte “Servant 61” Slave Tag, Cast Mammy Piggy Bank, Coon Ash Tray, 1920 Sprinkling Sambo Yard Sprinkler, 1929 Little Pickaninnies Illustrated Children’s Book, 1920s Black Mammy Soap Dish etc.

For eBay, symbols of African American degradation must not be a source of profit.
