TALLAHASSEE, FL —Tonnette Graham started her leadership journey in elementary school surrounded by students she wanted to help. By the time she enrolled at Florida A & M University she was ready to take on an even larger role in shaping the future of the next generation.

After her recent election as FAMU Student Body President for a second term, Graham pursued the chairmanship of the Florida Student Association (FSA). She ran a quiet convincing campaign.

On May 30th she was elected chairperson. Graham is the first African American woman to lead the non-partisan organization of 300,000 students and a board of directors comprised of 11 student body presidents.

As chair of FSA, she becomes a member of the State University System Board of Governors. Graham is also the first African American woman student leader on the panel that oversees the operation and management of the state’s 12 universities. As Student Body President she also serves on the FAMU Board of Trustees.

ā€œI’m so humbled and thankful for the opportunity to be the voice for over 300,000 students within the state university system,ā€ said Graham.Ā ā€œI’m forever grateful to be able to exercise all that FAMU has invested in my leadership development within this powerful role.ā€

Graham is well known for her passion for her university and her student constituents. No doubt she will keep a watchful eye on the policy impacting both.
