When Donald Trump was elected the 47th President of the United States, Black people were trying to figure out whether they were cursed or if it was another one of God’s tests. Of course, it is a test. Trump Trauma has become central to the circumstances we live in every day. Fortunately for us, this administration did not conduct thorough research on the impact of the tariffs, and the gutting of federal government programs would harm their constituents as well. Everyone gets something from the government. And, since White people outnumber people of color, they receive more benefits.
So, Black people are in the bleachers, watching the town halls and rallies. And the participants in these angry protests are all White. In less than two months, Trump supporters are experiencing buyer’s remorse, as the president’s approval ratings have tanked. He is underwater between 8 and 12 points on the economy, tariffs, and firing federal employees. That represents a 20-point shift. Most Americans do not place a high priority on foreign affairs. However, they recognize that discussing bombing maneuvers on a signal app reeks of incompetence, is unacceptable, and dangerous. Americans disapprove of that action by a margin of 75%.
So, while the courts are holding the line by pausing or stopping many of Elon Musk’s assaults, Republicans in the US Senate are starting to become more public with their concerns and want to put the brakes on. All Americans are upset. Yes, when White people took the field, that got attention. That’s great, it brought us together, which is not what Trump wanted.
Now, Trump and Musk are threatening Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, all third rail untouchable entitlements. This will make them more unpopular. The duo also tries to distract with other extreme issues, but people are wise to that too.
You see, when you think you’re a king, you cast aside empathy for cruelty, disregarding the health and welfare of the American people.
We gave up trying to warn them. Now they know.
