The Fiverr freelancer marketplace teamed up with customer relationship management company Salesforce on Aug. 1 on a pilot program to train Israelis with disabilities as Salesforce administrators.
This is the newest project of Fiverr Empower, which the Israeli-founded company launched in 2020 — during a time of global upheaval and unemployment — to help people with disabilities build their professional experience and find freelance employment opportunities through the Fiverr platform.
During the six-week program, students will learn Salesforce’s tools and systems from Salesforce mentors while getting trained by Fiverr mentors on how to best use the Fiverr platform.
After the training program is complete, Salesforce will then direct its wide-ranging customer base to work with these trained and certified administrators through the Fiverr platform.
Fiverr, which acquired unicorn status in 2019 before going public, was launched in 2010 by Micha Kaufman and Shai Wininger in Tel Aviv.
If the joint pilot with Salesforce is successful, it could be expanded and significantly impact employment, as about 15 percent of the world’s population experience some form of disability. According to the United Nations, in developing countries, 80-90 percent of people with disabilities of working age are unemployed, and in industrialized countries the figure is between 50 percent and 70 percent.
“Fiverr’s purpose is to provide opportunities for anyone, anywhere to build their business, brand or dreams,” the company said in a statement.
