Florida Memorial University proudly announces that Megan Smith, a first-year student and recipient of the prestigious Presidential Scholarship, has been selected to present her abstract at the Amazon Machine Learning University (AMLU) AI/ML Student Poster Session. Smith, a Radiobiology major, will travel to Arlington, Virginia on September 26, 2025, to showcase her research alongside other top student scholars from across the nation.
“I am beyond excited and incredibly proud of this young scholar,” said FMU President William McCormick. “As my first Presidential Scholar recipient, Megan is setting a high academic standard and demonstrating the excellence and commitment that define the FMU experience. My goal is to ensure Megan, and her peers have access to transformative opportunities such as this.”
Smith credits her academic success to the support she’s received from the University’s leadership. “President McCormick’s belief in me has given me renewed motivation—not just for myself, but for my family as well,” she said. “Being his first Presidential Scholar has made it possible for me to pursue my education at FMU, and my goal is to achieve excellence.”
This milestone marks an extraordinary moment for both Megan Smith and the University, reflecting FMU’s growing presence in STEM and artificial intelligence spaces and its commitment to nurturing the next generation of innovators and leaders.
