Did you ever wonder why our president praises Vladmir Putin?
It isnât just because his finances are entangled with Russian government-connected Deutsche Bank.
Did you ever wonder why the White House refused to honor lawful subpoenas from Congress?
It isnât just because they had something to hide.
Did you ever wonder why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is blocking legislation?
It isnât just because heâs a power-mad old man stoked on Viagra.
Did you ever wonder why Trump behaves in general as though heâs above the law?
It isnât just because heâs a narcissist.
The answer to these questions, and many more, is right in front of our faces. We are so conditioned to believe in American democracy that we just canât wrap our heads around it. The mainstream media is so âdown in the weedsâ, chasing every miniscule detail, that the magnitude of the answer escapes them too.
The answer is simple but catastrophic: the modern GOP has been planning for years to obliterate democracy. Karl Rove, Senior Advisor to George W. Bush, first pitched the idea of permanent Re-publican rule, angling for a third term for President Bush. In the interim a coalition of big money donors, White Nationalists, and religious extremists has been plotting this course with the end goal of totalitarianism.
Behind the scenes the Koch brothers have been funding think tanks, right wing media, and educational institutions to promote Libertarian ideals. David Duke and the âalt rightâ are in support of Trump, with their comrade Stephen Miller controlling immigration policy. The Dominionists are working to insert religion into every aspect of government, from the local level on up.
All of this information is available in the public domain, but weâve failed to view it as a whole. These are not isolated in-stances–there really IS a right wing conspiracy! The deliberate destruction of democracy is the only plausible explanation for the appalling cascade of events coming from this administration. We are now on the brink of their success.
We cannot combat what we refuse to acknowledge. The 2020 election isnât about any particular candidate–it is about our form of government. The choice is democracy or oligarchy.
