For Our Future Florida: President Joe Biden’s Rescue Plan a Huge Step Forward

It’s time for Senator Marco Rubio to Step Up

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – On the first day of the Biden presidency, For Our Future Florida released the following statement from Communications Director Blake Williams calling for the passage of Biden’s American Rescue Plan.

“It’s a new day in America, but yesterday’s problems remain to be fixed. Our state and country are in an economic recession and a once-in-a-century health pandemic, which desperately need to be addressed.

“Right now, Americans face one of the worst periods of this pandemic, with more than 3,000 Americans a day dying from COVID. The outgoing Republican president also leaves President Biden with one of the worst economic crises in decades. In the last year, the U.S. has lost 10 million jobs. And this month, nearly 1 million Americans filed for unemployment in a single week alone.

“President Biden’s American Rescue Plan sets our country back on the right path. Biden’s plan provides relief to families struggling to make ends meet, supports local communities across Florida, and addresses the virus head-on with resources and a coordinated plan for vaccinations. The reasons to pass this package are as long as the unemployment lines in Florida.

“The vaccination rollout so far has been a disaster, both nationally under Trump and here in Florida under Governor Ron DeSantis. Getting this country back on track begins with getting this virus under control. Now is the time for Republicans like Senator Marco Rubio to drop their partisanship and come together for the country and help pass this rescue package.”
