FRANKLINTON, NC — Julia Lee Kelley, an African American grandmother from North Carolina who has a total of 173 descendants, has recently turned 100-years old.

Kelley has lived through 6 generations in her family. She has five children, 30 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, 49 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grand-child.

It has been a tradition in the family to hold a reunion as a celebration every year. This year, however, the family decided to organize a drive-thru celebration due to the pandemic.

Moreover, her granddaughter, Kelley Oakley, paid tribute to her on Facebook. She said, “Dear Grandma I’m blessed to still have you! Today is your day…live it up! I pray that I live as long as you and still be cute and healthy! I still need to learn how to make those cakes from scratch like you, but we still got time. Keep blessing us with just living…”
