    Great American Beach Party returns May 25

    Free event offers activities and entertainment for everyone!

    Award-winning LivingSand artist and sculptor John May will present the Great American Sand Sculpting Contest.

         Fort Lauderdale, FL — Get ready to kick off the summer with live bands, great music, vintage cars, unique art, a classic movie, and fun in the sun for everyone! It’s all happening on Fort Lauderdale Beach at the City’s fourth annual Great American Beach Party on Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at A1A and Las Olas Boulevard.

    The free event will stretch along the world famous A1A will be transformed into a dynamic entertainment mecca featuring music, live performances, and activities for the entire family.

    Seven bands will perform on two stages throughout the day treating crowds to a variety of classic oldies, rock n’ roll, ‘80s hits, jazz favorites, rhythm & blues, and more. Featured artists will include Across the Universe (Beatles Tribute Band); Tim Bluntson (80’s Tribute Band); The Inverted (Classic Rock); Riverside Dixieland Band (Jazz); Nikki Kidd (R&B); Bahamas Junkanoo Revue; and headliner Boogie Knights (Disco Revival).

     

    SHUTTLE AND WATER TAXI SERVICE

    Avoid the traffic jams and the elusive hunt for a parking space.  Instead, get to the Great American Beach Party stress free by land or sea by taking advantage of one of the following transportation options.

     

    PARK AND RIDE DOWNTOWN

    City Park Garage

    150 S.E. Second St. – $5 flat rate parking

    One River Plaza

    305 S. Andrews Ave. – $5 flat rate parking

    Sun Trolley Pick-Up

    Picks up on Southeast Second Street between Southeast First Avenue and Southeast Second Avenue. Drops off on the beach at Las Olas Blvd. and Las Olas Circle – $1 per person each way – Trolley runs 8 a.m. to midnight.

    Water Shuttle Pick-Up

    Picks up at Las Olas Riverfront

    •     300 SW First Avenue – Drops off on beach at Las Olas Marina

    •     240 E. Las Olas Circle – Round Trip: Adults $10, Children (ages 3-17) $5 – Anticipation Yacht Charter departs on the hour and Water Taxi departs every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

     

    PARK AND RIDE GALLERIA

    Galleria shuttle fares cash only please. Galleria Mall Parking Garage

    2414 E. Sunrise Blvd.  –  Parking is free. Parking garage is located on the south side of the mall off NE Ninth Street behind Dillard’s.

    Land Shuttle Pick-Up

    Picks up on Northeast Ninth Street at the southeast corner of the parking garage. Round Trip: Adults $10, Children (ages 3-17) $5 – Shuttles depart every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
