The Salavation Army of Broward County is seeking to fill 125 Bell Ringer Positions During Job Fair October 14-15 and November 4
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (October 8, 2020) – Help ring in much-needed cheer and charity this holiday season with The Salvation Army of Broward County! South Florida residents with a positive outlook and an affinity for philanthropy and fun are encouraged to apply for seasonal bell ringer positions with The Salvation Army of Broward County during the nonprofit organization’s three job fairs on Wednesday, October 14, from 10 a.m. – noon, Thursday, October 15, from 10 a.m. – noon and Wednesday, November 4, from 10 a.m. – noon. The job fairs will take place at the Salvation Army’s headquarters at 100 SW 9th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. Approximately 125 paid positions need to be filled.
Synonymous with the Christmas season, “ringing the bell” at a Salvation Army Red Kettle has been a tradition since 1895. It’s not just about ringing a bell, however. All proceeds from the Kettle stay in Broward County and support the Salvation Army’s feeding, shelter and social service programs. Last year, the nonprofit organization raised more than $213,205 for the Greater Fort Lauderdale community.
“With all of the setbacks due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Broward County community is depending on The Salvation Army to rescue Christmas by restoring hope and joy,” said Major Stephen Long, area commander for The Salvation Army of Broward County. “We encourage job seekers and holiday helpers of all ages to join us in enriching the lives of our friends and neighbors in need and other vulnerable populations within our community.”
The Job Fair screenings will comply with CDC-approved COVID-19 social distancing guidelines and applicants will be required to wear a mask. Bell Ringers will be selected for employment for the holiday period of November 13 – December 24.
The Red Kettle Bell Ringers program is only part of the nonprofit organization’s efforts to help those less fortunate. Last year’s Angel Tree Program secured and distributed more than 8,046 toys to 1,061 families with diminished resources. The Salvation Army is actively assisting thousands of residents-in-need through its Food Pantry during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each Thursday, trusted Army experts provide non-perishable items and other pantry goods to more hundreds of underserved families. The organization also provides meals-to-go services for the homeless, its residents and other impoverished individuals.
