FORT LAUDERDALE, FL  (November 3, 2020) – The Medical Staff at Holy Cross Health has donated $100,000 to support the colleague assistance program through the Sister Catherine McAuley Fund.

The intent of the Sister Catherine McAuley Fund is to provide direct and sufficient assistance to Holy Cross Health’s colleagues and their families for food, child-care, utilities and housing as a result of loss of income particularly from the effects of COVID-19.

“We recognize the important need for support of the Sister Catherine McAuley Fund and the service it provides to our Holy Cross family members who have been financially burdened because of challenges caused by this unprecedented pandemic,” said Dr. Jon A. Kotler, President of the Holy Cross Health Medical Staff.

Motivated by The Jim Moran Foundation’s generosity in matching all donations to the Sister Catherine McAuley Fund up to $100,000 through a challenge grant, the Holy Cross Health Medical Staff’s generous gift ensures the completion of The Jim Moran Foundation’s Challenge.

Dr. John Cunha, Secretary and Treasurer of the Holy Cross Health Medical Staff, presented the check to Sister Rita J. Levasseur, VP of Mission Integration, who has already awarded more than $230,000 in stipends to 414 Holy Cross colleagues in need.

“Holy Cross Health is grateful to the entire Medical Staff at Holy Cross Health for their generous philanthropic commitment to the Sister Catherine McAuley Fund,” said Sr. Levasseur.
