          It is with profound love and gratitude that we honor the life of Ida Elizabeth Storr Cash, a cherished daughter, devoted wife, loving mother, and beloved friend who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Born on February 12, 1931, in Miami, Florida, Ida lived a life marked by grace, strength, and unwavering faith. Ida’s spiritual journey began early, nurtured by her family’s church, A.M. Cohen Temple Church of God in Christ, where she flourished under the leadership of the late Bishop A.M. Cohen.

    An exceptional student, Ida’s academic prowess was evident from a young age. She graduated as Salutatorian of Booker T. Washington High School in 1947. At just 16, she embarked on her collegiate journey at Hampton Institute (now Hampton University), where she graduated in 1951. A proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Ida remained a devoted and active member of the sisterhood for nearly 75 years, embodying its values of scholarship, service, and sisterhood.

    In 1957, Ida was united in marriage to the love of her life, James W. Cash, Sr., a high school classmate and fellow member of their church family. Their union, lasting 37 blessed years until James’ passing, was a partnership grounded in mutual respect, love, and faith. Together, they raised two beautiful children, Yolanda Maria and James W. Cash, Jr., providing them with the same strong spiritual foundation that had guided their own lives.

    Ida’s professional career in education began in 1953 at Mays High School. Her love for learning and her desire to empower the next generation led her to pursue a master’s degree from Indiana University in 1963. She then transitioned into school counseling, joining the staff at Miami Northwestern High School before continuing her work at Hialeah High School, where she served with distinction until her retirement in 1989.

    She is survived by her loving daughter, Yolanda Cash Jackson; her devoted grandchildren, James Carol Cash and Shy’Kayla Jackson; her beloved brothers, George E. Storr and Lester C. Storr; her cherished sisters, Rosa V. Storr, Helen Jinks, Michele A. Storr, and Bernetta Storr;

    her caring sisters-in-law, Joan Storr and Mazie Storr; her brother-in-law, Charles Jinks;

    a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who held her close in their hearts.

    She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. James W. Cash, Sr.; her son, James W. Cash, Jr.; her parents, Alfred and Rosa Lee Storr; and her brother, Alfred Storr, Jr.

    All services will be held at New Hope Missionary Baptist, 1881 NW 103 Street, Miami, Florida 33147. The viewing will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 4 pm to 7 pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 11 am.
