Community Servant • Businessman • FAMU Rattler

The Westside Gazette joins our community in mourning the loss of Roschell “Rochelle” Franklin Jr., a beloved son of Fort Lauderdale whose life was marked by service, leadership, and unwavering dedication to others.

For over five decades, Rochelle owned and operated Franklin Bail Bonds, helping countless families with dignity and compassion. He was also a proud and faithful member of Pride of Fort Lauderdale Elks Lodge No. 652, where he held nearly every leadership position and was instrumental in building the lodge’s enduring legacy of outreach and support.

A proud alumnus of Florida A&M University, Rochelle served as President of the FAMU NAA Broward Chapter, always championing education, opportunity, and the power of Rattler pride.

Rochelle was a mentor, leader, and loyal friend. He touched lives across generations—with wisdom, wit, and a genuine heart for people. His presence will be deeply missed, and his impact will live on.

Memorial service details will be announced shortly. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, Elks brothers, and Rattler family.
