We lost a renowned writer in Cokie Roberts.  It looks like St. Peter is starting a blog in heaven.  He made a good choice for his staff with the 75-year-old Emmy winning journalist Cokie Roberts.  Her resume includes a long tenure on National Public Radio as a featured host.  She was their Congressional correspondent for over a decade.

In a male dominated writing industry she was a trailblazer for women.  To call her a role model in her wake is still not an accurate impact of her legacy.  She was also the author of several bestselling books.

During her tenure she was awarded the prestigious Edward R Morrow award and the Walter Cronkite award for Excellence in Journalism. Cokie transitioned to becoming the Congressional anchor on the A.B.C. evening show with “This Week with George Stephanopoulos”.  This precedes the days of an Executive in chief that decried any news to his disfavor “Fake News!”  She had the fortitude and stamina to challenge a bully like our current President.

We live now in a precarious journalistic age and the Cokie Robert’s of the world are needed. From Russia, as reported by N.P.R. to have murdered close to a dozen reporters to Trump’s castigations of the press “The enemy of the State!”  The free press with talented journalist like Cokie are needed now than ever.  “This is a code red”.

Her huge footprint led to an Emmy award for her work at A.B.C. news.  She was so charismatic, A.B.C. News President James Goldstein made a public statement.  “She is dearly missed. Cokie’s kindness, generosity, sharp intellect and thoughtful take on big issues of the day made A.B.C. a better place and all of us better journalist “

Unfortunately we lost her to breast cancer complications.  Please donate pink! Cokie we look forward to reading your work when we get to the Pearly Gates!
