    City of Lauderdale Lakes to Host Black History Month Events
    (LAUDERDALE LAKES, Florida) — The City of Lauderdale Lakes Parks and Human
    Services Department will host a series of events to celebrate Black History Month.
    The City of Lauderdale Lakes along with the School Board of Broward County
    (SBBC)-BA Zone has partnered to provide several community involved lecture
    series and programs in honor of the upcoming Black History Month. The events
    will be kicked off by a Black History Month: Interactive Symposium, featuring Dr.
    Jawanza Kunjufu, themed “The Guidance of Youth to Adulthood”,on Thursday,
    February 7th
    from 6 pm – 9 pm at Boyd H. Anderson High School, 3050 NW 41st
    Lauderdale Lakes. Dr. Kunjufu will address the role and importance of positive
    supports systems and the level of involvement required from parents, community
    leaders, and school teachers. As a best selling author, Dr. Kunjufu’s work has
    been featured in Ebony and Essence Magazine, and he has been a guest on BET,
    Oprah, and the Michael Baisden Show. There will be a Q&A session and book
    signing for all who attend.
    The City and SBBC-BA Zone will also host two lecture series: For Elementary &
    Middle School Students & for High School Students. The event will be held on
    Friday, February 8th
    from 10 am – 1 pm at Boyd H. Anderson High School, 3050
    NW 41st
    Lauderdale Lakes. Dr. Kunjufu will address grades 5-12 on the
    challenges minority youth face on the road to responsible adulthood.
    Last but not least, the City will host its Fifth Annual Black History Month Parade &
    Community Celebration: “We are Moving Forward Together”. The event will be
    held on Saturday, February 16th
    . The parade will begin at 9 am, followed by a
    Community Celebration. The Parade will begin in front of St. Joseph Towers and
    end at Bella Vista Court Yard with the Community Celebration. The Grand
    Marshals of the parade will be local Clergy men and women from faith based
    organizations. Festivities during the parade will include marching bands,
    community organizations, churches, and local businesses. The Community
    Celebration will include entertainment and fun for all. If you would like to
