Lauderhill Youth Council & Teen Leader Club Program

The City of Lauderhill Parks & Recreation Department is excited to offer the Lauderhill Youth Council (LYC) and Teen Leader Club (TL) Program for students in grades 9-12. This program provides opportunities for young people to get involved in their community, develop leadership skills, and learn about local government operations.

 

*Program Benefits*

– Participate in local decision-making

– Gain “real-world” experience with elected officials

– Learn about the roles of councils, boards, and committees

– Understand how city government operates

– Earn community service hours towards high school graduation requirements

*Program Activities*

– Meet the Lauderhill City Commission and discuss city and government topics

– Learn Robert’s Rules of Order and practice public speaking

– Meet city officials and department employees to learn about city planning and operations

– Hear from local and area professional guest speakers

– Participate in financial literacy sessions and fundraising events

– Engage in community service projects
