    By Your Black World

         E. Steven Collins was a well-loved and highly esteemed radio and media personality. Although he was based in Philadelphia, his impact was felt across the nation as he was often invited to comment on newsworthy events that impacted the Black community. This past Monday, he passed away after succumbing to a fatal heart attack.

Collins hosted “Philly Speaks” on 100.3 in Philadelphia. He would often invite local, up and coming artists to his live show. He was so popular that he was known as the “Unofficial Mayor of Philadelphia.”

Throughout his career, he served as Radio One’s Director Of Urban Marketing and External Relations. He has been featured on MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” CNN Midday,” CNN American Morning with John Roberts”, CNN Weekend and PBS News Hour. He also worked for Clear Channel Communications at WDAS 105.3 FM for 30 years.
