Salgado (AW/SW) from Brooklyn, New York, and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Michael B. Diaz (AW/SW/IW) from Miami, all assigned to V-1 and V-3 division in air department, conduct a training brief prior to a general quarters drill, aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) in Newport News, Virginia, March 29, 2023. George Washington is conducting a simulated underway to validate shipboard habitability and operational services to ensure the ship meets the final refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) milestones. RCOH is a multi-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization.
