Modern Day Apartheid

The Gantt Report

When one neighborhood gang takes; or tries, to take over another neighborhood allegedly controlled by another gang, the neighborhood citizens could get caught up in violence between the two gangs.

You’ve seen TV shows and movies depicting one drug dealer’s efforts to take over corners being worked by other drug dealers. Unauthorized takeovers oftentimes result in sorrow, tears, and blood.

When you take land, resources, businesses, and “rights” from people without a cause, your actions could be considered acts of apartheid.

Amnesty International considers that modern-day apartheid occurs when one group of people seizes land and property, kills innocent people at will, forces transfers, enacts drastic movement restrictions, and denies nationality and citizenship to residents who are unliked.

If you don’t know, at one time, the country of South Africa was the “kingpin” of apartheid!

It took many, many years but Black South Africans like Nelson and Winnie Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Oliver Tambo, Steve Biko, and members of the African National Congress disrupted, dismantled, and destroyed the racist and white supremacist government that suppressed and subjugated the countries Black citizenry.

Why did it take decades to bring some semblance of “rights” to apartheid victims? It took a long time because Black South Africans were described as terrorists, criminals, murderers, and uncivilized Black monsters!

And most non-Black nations of the world ignored the Black South African’s cries for freedom, justice, and equal rights.

Today, history is repeating itself. The majority of today’s conflicts, confrontations, and battles are about the same fights that have taken place in years before, it’s about land and resources.

Apartheid, in my opinion, is an offshoot of colonialism. When Europeans found out the African continent had valuable resources, they got together and had a meeting to discuss how they would use military power to divide and conquer Africa. In other words, England, France, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and possibly other countries would be allowed to have “a piece” of the Motherland so they wouldn’t fight each other over the land and resources that didn’t belong to them.

It wasn’t just Africa, colonizers took whatever lands they could from South America, Central America, The Caribbean, and other places.

Depicted as heroes in your history books, Christopher Columbus, Queen Victoria, Vasco da Gama, Henry the Navigator, Cecil Rhodes, Cortez, and “King” Leopold were a collection of thieves and pirates!

Too many African Americans don’t get it. When Russia tries to take land from Ukraine, other whites in the world will oppose that action.

But if you take land and resources, take away civil rights, voting rights, governmental rights like representation in government, rights to worship, rights to obtain business, and other licenses, rights to farm, rights to fish, rights to control roads and infrastructure, rights to move around your own country without permission, and so forth, the people will ultimately rebel!

Slavery taught Blacks in America to tolerate mistreatment, disrespect, and violence. Slavery also instructed our ancestors to believe everything the slave masters said.

So-called negro leaders in the world right now are quick to parrot, rubber stamp, and accept the atrocities of modern-day apartheid. Our leaders are afraid to call a spade a spade or call out apartheid when apartheid is taking place in the world right before our eyes.

The struggle for equal justice, equal rights, and peace will continue until the world finds truth, harmony and righteousness.

Modern-day apartheid is not a good thing. It will always cause people to rebel!
