    Mount Hermon AME Church Songfest 2017

         Mount Hermon A.M.E. Church, and our Pastor, Reverend Henry E. Green, Jr., cordially invites the public to Songfest 2017 on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the 401 N.W. Seventh Terr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Musician/artist at the Voices of Praise Choir Songfest 2107. The theme for this year’s production is Songfest 2017: “Sing praises to God, sing praises to our King, sing praises” – Psalms 47:6 NIV

         Rev. Kevin Desire is a native of Miami-Dade County. He is an accomplished musician who has composed and arranged 477 songs. He has traveled extensively across the United States, Nassau (Bahamas), Toronto (Canada), Europe, & Lilongwe, Malawi (southern Africa) with his music. He was voted most musical by his senior class at Miami Carol City in 1984.

    In 2015 Rev. Desire was awarded the Song of the Year songwriting contest, semi-finalists placement for his composition “Get To It Cue.” Additionally, he has music placement deals and approximately 30 songs in consideration for various film/TV, video game opportunities.

    He is an ordained minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and has been involved in Youth Ministry since the age 10. Rev. Desire currently serves as the Director of Music & Christian Arts for the 11th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The 11th Episcopal District is comprised of 400 churches with 100,000 members in Florida & the Bahamas. Rev. Desire has been playing the piano for 40 years, and involved in music ministry for 38 of those years.

    An active community servant, his civic involvements and affiliations include:  Member of the   civic group “UP-PAC”; Member, Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Equal Justice Roundtable; and a Member of the 11th Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church, Social Action Committee.

    Desire has many hobbies. In his leisure time, he enjoys: traveling, reading, playing Wii video games, card games, line dancing, bowling and going to the movies. He also enjoys sports, nature, politics, shooting pool, science and history.
