Mr. Tee has taught, played and call  his last time here

Ulysses C. Warren, Jr. was born to the parents of Ulysses, Sr. and Valua Loretta Warren in Live Oak, FL on December 9, 1942. Affectionately known as Tee, Jr after his father Tee; he grew up in the area of Live Oak called North End where he had many relatives.

Ulysses was educated in the Suwannee County Public School System. He was taught by his mother in rural Suwannee County from the first grade until the 9th grade. He subsequently joined the students at Douglass High School. He excelled in academics as well as, extracurricular activities. Ulysses was the quarterback for the high school team, winning all games in his senior year. He was the lead scorer for the basketball team, as well. He often talked about playing in the tobacco warehouses and cold weather outside on a concrete court. He mentioned where a fire was made in an oil barrel placed on the sideline for warmth. There was no gymnasium for students who looked like him.

Following graduation, he matriculated to Voorhees College in South Carolina. Once again, he was the quarterback for the football team, as his high school coach was the coach at the college there. He later transferred to Florida Memorial College in St. Augustine, FL. He majored in Elementary Education and graduated in 1965 with his Bachelor of Science. In 1987 he earned a Master of Science Degree in Administration and Supervision from Nova Southeastern University.

Ulysses began his career as an educator in 1965 in Lake Butler (Union County), FL. After a few years, he continued his commitment to education and relocated his family to Broward County where he taught at Rock Island Elementary School in 1969. The year 1970 marked the beginning of integration and Tee (as he was known in Broward County) was given the task of locating a new school on the “other side of town.” He landed squarely on his feet at Plantation Elementary School, where he thrived along with his 5th grade students, whom he loved. Tee also taught at Plantation Middle School for a number of years. He was well-respected as a no-nonsense educator. Later, he became an Assistant Principal at Rogers Middle School and Seminole Middle School. Tee was an educator for 32 years before retiring in 1997.

Ulysses was a sports enthusiast throughout his entire teaching career and beyond. Ulysses was one of the few Black “White Hats” to referee during his time in the association, which he continued for 35 years. He loved his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, Inc. He joined some of his chapter members of Eta Nu traveling to numerous cities for football games all throughout the country. He was a part of the “Traveling Squad of South Florida.”

Ulysses was a member of Mt. Hermon AME Church, where he served as a Trustee Pro Tem and a member of the Sons of Allen Ministry. He played an active role in the naming of Vernese Witherspoon Usher Board (formerly Usher Board No. 2).

Ulysses made his heavenly transition on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. He is preceded in death by his son Roderick Miguel Warren. He leaves a legacy of memories to his wife, Beverly, children Terence of Hollywood, FL and Rolanda (Alvin, Sr.) of Tallahassee, FL; three siblings: Marvin Warren of Clearwater, FL, Tonya Wynn (Julius) of Clearwater, FL, and Camilla Quarterman (Graylan) of Hinesville, GA; three grandchildren: Alvin, Jr., Epiphany, Krystal Washington; six great-grandchildren: Alvin, III, Kaylise, Kacen, Elijah, Khilen, and Kashton all of Tallahassee, FL and numerous relatives and friends.
