Mt. Hermon Celebrates Historic Groundbreaking and Mortgage Liquidation

On Sunday April 30, 2023,  the Hermon AME Church family,  under astute leadership of Rev. Henry E. Green, III, celebrated two noteworthy milestones: the burning of the church’s mortgage, in essence, liquidating all debt related to church owned real estate, and breaking ground on a 55 unit senior citizen facility scheduled for completion in May of 2024. Prior to the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony, the church held a consecration service to honor and thank Almighty God for His bountiful, limitless blessings. The presiding prelate of the Eleventh Episcopal District, Bishop Frank Madison Reid, was the preacher of the hour. Reid gave us a word for the ages at today’s Groundbreaking and Mortgage burning celebration. T. C. B.  – Take Care of Business! If we do that God will take care of us. Dr. John Thomas, Director of  Christian Recording of the AME Church, was also in attendance along with  Presiding Elders, Pastors and members from the district and conference.

The Mt. Hermon Trustee Board and Chairlady Felicia Turnley are to be commended for spearheading the mortgage liquidation drive and organizing the consecration service.

Prior to becoming Presiding Elder of the Celebrated Central District, Rev. Henry E. Green, Jr.‘s visionary leadership fostered a partnership with HTG Development Group and their representative Ron Wilkerson  to build the senior citizens facility that will be the first of its magnitude and cost constructed in the northwest community.
