History, smiles and memories highlighted the 25th anniversary of the South Florida Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College. (NAASC) Covering Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, this chapter was the idea of 30 visionary women, including noted South Florida Historian Dr. Dorothy fields, who provided a historical picture at the event. Spelmanite, and Chief Meteorologist for Local 10 TV, Betty Davis was the emcee. The chapter’s first president, Kwanza Clay Bowe, provided memories from the early years, and Pamela Cooper, Vice President of the NAASC, gave greetings from the National office. With the Historic Hampton House as the backdrop and the music of Jon Saxx, it was a very memorable occasion. Chapter president, Novice Johnson, said, “ We thank everyone who supported us, and contributed to this event in some way. Our donors, sponsors, vendors and Morehouse brothers are thanked and appreciated. And thanks, is just not enough to the Anniversary Committee, chapter members and the staff at Hampton House. Lastly, if you would like to contact us, you may do so at spelmangrads@gmail.com.”
