Petty Officer 2nd Class Daniel Arroyo

KINGS BAY, Ga. – Petty Officer 2nd Class Daniel Arroyo, a native of Hollywood, Florida, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to USS Georgia, homeported at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. As a submariner, Arroyo is part of a small percentage of Navy personnel continuing a 125-year tradition of service under the sea to help ensure Americans’ safety.

Arroyo graduated from Hallandale High School in 2020.

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Hollywood.

“My hometown taught me positivity and patience,” Arroyo said. “Staying positive can be very difficult, but I always try to smile and understand that everything will pass, and I can thank my hometown for that.”

Arroyo joined the Navy three years ago. Today, Arroyo serves as a machinist’s mate (nuclear).

Weston native outshines peers at Navy Supply Corps School graduation

    Lt. j.g. Xiang “Sean” Chi

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Lt. j.g. Xiang “Sean” Chi, a native of Weston, Florida, was recognized as the Basic Qualification Course (BQC) Honor Graduate during a recent graduation held at the Navy Supply Corps School (NSCS) in Newport, Rhode Island. Chi was also honored with the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) Ship’s Store Award.

Chi is a 2019 Cypress Bay High School graduate. Additionally, Chi earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy in 2023 and a master’s degree from Georgetown University in 2023.

Chi joined the Navy two years ago.

“It’s truly an honor and privilege to be named Honor Graduate and to receive the NEXCOM Ship’s Store Award,” Chi said. “This recognition is not necessarily a reflection of my efforts in the classroom, but more of a testament to the support and mentorship I’ve received from my instructors and my classmates. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity, and I hope to utilize what I’ve learned here at BQC out into the fleet to be the best Supply Corps officer I can possibly be.”

Navy Supply Corps officers play a critical role in ensuring sailors have the equipment and resources they need to maintain readiness and counter global threats.
