Davie native conducts tours Aboard USS Carl Vinson during LA Fleet Week
PACIFIC OCEAN -Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 1st Class Daniel Desouza, a native of Davie, Florida, gives educators a tour of the flight deck aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) as the ship departs its homeport San Diego for Los Angeles Fleet Week. LAFW is an opportunity for the American public to meet their Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard teams and experience America’s sea services. During fleet week, service members participate in various community service events, showcase capabilities and equipment to the community, and enjoy the hospitality of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas.

NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN Seaman Waarith Abdullah, from Hollywood, Florida, stands watch in the pilot house aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114) in the North Pacific Ocean, May 24. Ralph Johnson is forward deployed and assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest DESRON and the U.S. 7th fleet’s principal surface force.
