Nothing but a Superstar: Barry White gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

    By Britt L

The late Barry White will now have a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor Barry on Sept. 12 at 11:30 a.m.  in sunny Hollywood, Calif.

President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will unveil the golden star at 6914 Hollywood Blvd. along with other guests including Glodean White, wife of Barry White and music mogul legend Berry Gordy.

A live stream of the ceremony will be aired on www.walkoffame.com

Officials for the Walk of Fame ceremonies reminisced recently on Barry’s influence on music as they reveal plans for the star.

“People can’t get enough of Barry White’s music and even though he passed away many years ago, his songs will live on in the hearts of many,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies.

“We are honored to have Barry White, his legendary voice and timeless songs immortalized on the Walk of Fame,” continued Martinez.

Barry was an American record producer and singer-song-writer. The two-time Grammy Award-winner was known for the bass in his voice and sex appeal, even with a large brown belly. Barry’s music was an influence for soul, funk, pop and disco, which ultimately landed him many gold and platinum singles and articles.

The 1970’s singer suffered a stroke due to long term health issues. White died on the morning of July 4, 2003 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
